Antelope Storm Bursts Through With Read Stake Win

GII – Read Stakes

$250.000 Mile and One Eighth on Turf For Three & Up

All the talk going into the GII Read Stakes was who would be able to extend their winning streak. Antelope Storm and Crafty Shenanigans both came into the race with three race win streaks on the line. Sabre For Kathology also had a two win race streak. All three didn’t disappoint as they made up the trifecta with Antelope Storm pushing his win streak to four in a row.

The betting public had the money pouring in on Antelope Storm, as a result he went off as the heavy favorite at better then 2/5 odds. The win has almost solidified his spot in the BC Turf this November moving into third place with 22 points.

When the gates swung open the field all left the gate clean starting out seven wide as they ran along the DMR Turf shoot. A few strides in Profound Approach was the only one to tail to the back of the pack. The early lead went to Gallivant with Sean Hannity in hot pursuit on his outside. Sabre For Kathology, Spring Stormtrooper, Antelope Storm, Crafty Shenanigans and Profound Approach.

With a 3/4 time of 1:10.00 they hit the far turn and the back field started to make ground on the leaders. Jockey Rose J had to do some stick handling to find an open hole but with a furlong to go one opened up and Antelope Storm was able to burst through and finish a half length ahead of Crafty Shenanigans who had to swing out wide to find his opening. Sabre For Kathology and Sean Hannity dead heated for third with Profound Approach, Spring Stormtrooper and pace setter Gallivant falling to the back of the pack. The whole field was all within a length and a half of each other when they crossed the wire.

Congratulations to Scarletandgraystable and all the connections behind Antelope Storm.
