Natural Zone Beats the Draw to Take BC Fillies & Mares Sprint

BC Fillies & Mares Sprint – Grade I

7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $1,000.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Natural Zone, trained by Mb Stables

Though this filly had only raced 7 times before today and had a nasty draw to contend with a fairly even pace worked nicely for her as she was able to get position A at Del Mar just a few lengths off teh leaders and never worse than midpack. To get that trip she had to go wide the entire trip and did really well to dig deep and gamely fight out a neck win. This daughter of Decima sparked a BC domination by her trainer never seen before at HRP.

2nd Temple Of The Brave, trained by Crocker Cgs
Looked to get the perfect trip grabbing the rail and cruising into teh lead before halfway. Unfortuanetly thsi speedster only just stays seven furlongs and her stamina gave out close home. Still she ran another cracker for her realtively inexperienced trainer.

3rd Gottahotone, trained by Team 7 Illusions
Had to go onto the pace from her draw but she is another who barely stays the seven furlongs and her stamina gave out close home too. Only beaten a half length she has certainly proved worthy of her big sale price back in the summer.

4th Where To Find Me, trained by Mb Stables
Did better than most that have gone to the back early on as her draw gave her choice A or B and the one she chose looked to give her no chance. Pretty much last early on she made up some nice ground late to run a maginficent fourth, not bad for a filly with only six starts to her name.

The Rest
Fooling Me got swallowed on the rail but ran on nicely through the traffic for a career best effort in fifth.

SUMMARY
Only six lengths covered the field so getting a clear run was a major advantage in this race and Natural Zone, though wide got a clear run to catch the two non stayers in front.
