Shake It Off, Shakes Off Her Price Tag in Santa Maria Stakes

Santa Maria Stakes – Grade II
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Shake It Off, trained by Smokey Stover
She looked worth every cent of the $350.000 price tag her trainer had coughed up by coming with a strong late run to win by three quarters of a length. Clearly this five year old daughter of Quench has retained her BC Distaff form and looks set for another successful year.

2nd Wicked Heat, trained by EasyMoney Stables
Ran just behind the pace and kept on well enough for second. The 2016 BC Distaff winner looks like she will be a force again this year.

3rd Poor Perception, trained by Mb Stables
Started favourite which was strange for a winner of a couple of cheap races taking on such established stars but Mb Stables has that effect on the betting calculator and it wasnt far wrong. Running on well she was only beaten a length in her first race with a three digit value and i am sure she will be a force in the division going forward.

4th Zenna The Ruler, trained by Night Mare Racing
Stalked the lead then hit the front passed halfway but was outgunned down the stretch.
