Midwestern Slang Prevails In Read Stakes

                         The Read Stakes – GII
                     DMR Race 5 1 1/8M – Turf
                              Purse $250.000
                       Three Year Olds and Up

1st Midwestern Slang, trained by Gdp Inc

Well the main horse who I thought could beat my top pick of Compress ended up winning and doing it very nicely. He started off in about midpack and then creeped closer to the lead until he opened up and then held off a late charge close to the wire. He ran the race in 1:45.44 and earned $150.000.

2nd Siberian Prince, trained by Sir Daniel Martin

The three year old ran pretty good on here as he came from way back in the field with a very fast closing rush but couldn’t get there in time. He was far back in the field and then made a mad dash but could not get to the winner Midwestern Slang but he still ran a very respectable race to run second.

3rd Lone Shadow, trained by Blushing Meadows

Another three year old in the field who also ran a very good race from way back in the field as he came from dead last to get up for a third place finish. He changed tactics from his last race where he won wire to wire but I think the way he ran in here actually was a good thing because he ran very good.

4th Devil Six, trained by D J C Racing Stables

Every horse in here that ran top four came from pretty far back in the field as this horse was near the rear in the beginning parts of the race and made a run to end up finishing fourth. This horse ran pretty good for the wizard and should improve in his second race for his new trainer after he was sold.

Summary

Well I thought it would be Compress who would win before the race but he ended up finishing fifth while my second choice Midwestern Slang ended up the winner with his very good performance in here and I knew he could win this race for sure. Congratulations to Gdp Inc and Midwestern Slang.
