The Stewart Manor ($100.000 Purse)
AQU- For Fillies Two Years Old
Six Furlongs on the Turf
November 10, 2019
The Stewart Manor was a race that saw horses taking differing paths to get here. Some had been on the turf their whole careers, others were making their turf debut. A couple who had raced on the grass were now sprinting for the first time on it. It would end up a race without a big favorite, as after the 3/1 Notorious Dreamer, there were good potential payouts for the rest of the field. While we felt that this was Five To Get Ready’s race to lose, that one didn’t have her best race, further opening the door for the rest of the field. In the end, it would be No More Tears and T Boy Racing getting this victory. With this win, No More Tears backed up her maiden victory, which was also her turf debut and now hopes to move forward into bigger and better things. T Boy Racing wins the race for the first time, and the jockey, J Rosario, does as well. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:09.09. Here’s a look at it, but before we do note that De Nada would end up scratching.
(1/4 Mile- :22.70)- Breaking the quickest out of the starting gate would be Hash Tag Hash, from Estero Farms, and Always Alicia, for Njvets. Those two battled one another down the backstretch for the early lead until Hash Tag Has claimed the top spot just as they reached the end of this portion of the race. Stalking them was our eventual race winner, No More Tears, out of T Boy Racing. She would position herself into the third lane, a length or so back, giving her a clear lane when J Rosario decided it was time to strike. To her inside, half a length further back was the surprising post time favorite in Notorious Dreamer (Arindel), as well as Tobago (D J C Racing Stables). Lotta Heart (Threshold) was another half a length back. Next came Five To Get Ready (Greeko Holdem), and well off the pace was Dime Piece (Chili King Stables).
(½ Mile- :45.47, Top Of Stretch, 1.5F to Go)- Moving around the turn, both Hash Tag Hash and Always Alicia continued to lead the way without much pressure being applied until just as they reached the top of the stretch. No More Tears had remained in her lane, moving forward slightly but not looking to overpower her way to the lead. At the top of the stretch, she was a little less then a length from the lead, but making her move. Lotta Heart had been right behind her, and now moved out to the fourth lane for a move of her own. Both Notorious Dreamer and Tobago were not yet making a move but still in reach. Five To Get Ready still had four lengths to make up, and Dime Piece had five.
(Finish- 1:09.09)- With every stride in the first portion of the stretch run, No More Tears was just a little better then her rivals, and this allowed her to take the lead. However, once there, she showed some pretty good finishing kick, which is interesting considering she was not one of those in this field who had been running longer and was cutting back. She ran smartly to the wire, earning a win by about a length. Hash Tag Hash held on for second in a photo over Lotta Heart and Always Alicia takes the fourth place check. Notorious Dreamer and Five To Get Ready were next, and disappointed many. Dime Piece and Tobago round it out, and were still within two and a half lengths of the winner.
About The Winner- No More Tears, trained by T Boy Racing, and ridden to victory by J Rosario, is a two year old filly by Frenched Quarters and is out of Weep No More. She was bred by T Boy Racing as a second quarter two year old in the unconventional state of Maryland. The win is her second in five starts, and her first stake win. Her career earnings are now $109.320.
