Only Four in The Matriarch

The Matriarch – GI
DMR Race 9 1M – Turf
Purse $300.000
Three Year Olds and Up Fillies and Mares

A very small field of four here for this years running of the grade one Matriarch here over the Del Mar turf course. It is a very small field but all four of the runners in here are pretty good runners and it should be a good race. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Dream Whisperer (15-4-2-2 $495.060), trained by Mb Stables

The first runner we take a look at here is coming into this race off of a second place finish in the grade three Autumn Miss. She ran pretty good that day and she seems to like the turf better than the dirt. She is going to have to run a huge race to win in here though.

2. Cest And Me (16-6-2-1 $1,154.400), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Next runner in the field here has been running very well all year so far and she is grade one placed and a graded stakes winner on the year. She is bringing good form into the race and I think she is going to finally get her grade one win in here.

3. Lower Merion (15-3-4-3 $302.700), trained by Chili King Stables

Now to this filly who is coming into this race off of a second place finish in the grade two Sands Point. She has ran three seconds in a row all in stakes company so far but she is bound to find the winners circle and it could be in this spot. Small field could be the key for her.

4. Rainy Day Woman (21-8-5-1 $582.350), trained by John Henry

Final runner in the field here and she has been running pretty well this year except for her last start in the grade one First Lady. She usually likes to head out to the lead and set the pace and it works often for her. With this small field that might be a good tactic to use.

A small field for a grade one here and I almost wish I threw one in here to take a shot. My top pick in here is going to be Cest And Me as I think she will get her first grade one win in here finally. Good luck to all in the field.
