Graveyard Follows in Sires Hoofprints to Capture Great White Way

Quick to point out the connection as a breeder, Aer Stables made sure to point out the fact that Graveyard ( Mb Stables ) was able to take home this seasons Great White Way, a task his sire Bronx Bomber accomplished to close out his 2016 season.

  • NYSS- Great White Way – Purse $500.000
  • Aqueduct Racetrack- For Two Year olds- Foaled in NY
  • Seven Eights of a Mile- Main track

Extending the distance by a furlong over past season’s races, as well as jumping the purse handle immensely to $500.000, and you know that a trainer like Mb Stables will be in the hunt for a share. While Graveyard was attempting to make his mark over the grass, his trainer went to work on the dirt throughout the month of November and brought this juvenile around to appreciating that footing. Was dismissed at the windows going off at 16-1 odds come post time, jockey J Talamo ( who also had experience on Bronx Bomber during his career ), was patient until the turn for home to position his mount for the run for the win. It will now be interesting to see if Graveyard will attempt to compete in any TC events next season as well.

While there was only a separation of two one hundreds of a second between second and fourth at the line, the group of Genghis ( Arindel ), Lucky But ( Night Rider Stables ) and Peter E Peat ( Team 7 Illusions ) put on a show for all patrons on the day with their efforts. Genghis once again was dismissed as a contender going off at 36-1 odds, he once again helped to return a major payout with an exacta of $1366.300. Like the eventual winner, the move to the dirt has paid dividends in his past two starts, and we may very well see these two compete next year for some major titles.

Lucky But was looking like he was away down the lane, but the field came a calling leaving him with a third place finish. Peter E Peat took to the extreme outside down the stretch to try and put in a stellar late run, and he too would come up steps short of a victory.
