Grandstand Jockey Takes The PEN Mile

The PEN Mile – GII
5/30/20
PEN Race 20 1M – Turf
Purse $500.000
Three Year Olds

1st Grandstand Jockey, trained by Night Rider Stables

Sort of a surprising win to me as I thought this horse was talented enough to win but I did not know if he would like the turf as much as he did. He had a perfect stalking trip and won in 1:32.74 and earned $300.000 for the win.

2nd Personal Beliefs, trained by Maxmillion Farm

Probably the best effort of any horse in the race as he set some fast fractions and especially for his three quarter split at 1:09 flat. He almost ran then off their feet and was only caught and beat a length at the wire.

3rd Hammerfest, trained by Smokey Stover

A pretty good run from this horse as he got up to run third after being near the back of the field for most of the way in the early stages. He closed well and was only beaten a length by the winner.

4th Kimura, trained by Mb Stables

Not as good of a run from this horse as I thought he would give but I think that he may have been too close to early pace. He was right there stalking the pace and just did not go on with it. Still hit the board at least.

Summary

Well a very big win here from Grandstand Jockey and he ran a very fast time in the length victory over a very good field. I know Raj is ecstatic and should have a plan mapped out. Congratulations to Grandstand Jockey and Night Rider Stables.
