6 SAR The Diana (GI)
$500.000 4yo&Up F&M 1 1/8m Turf 123 lbs
Wow wow wow… what a nice group of ladies headed to the gate here in up-state NY on Sunday, and we look at the field for The Diana (GI). So, so many nice horses in this one, but I’m headed out to the outside post for the defending F&M Turf Champ, and I’ll look at La Terrifiant to get the job done here today. She has over $4,000.000 in the bank… you don’t make that running at MNR. Dominating class… and comes in off of a big win and a bit of rest. It’s real hard to look past her. Let’s give Rules Are Madness a big chance here today as well… and if not for the top choice, she’d probably be the one to get past. Three wins this year including the Ballston, last out, where she beat some of these. Again, class and cash, a deadly combination. I think you can throw a blanket over the rest, for the most part… it’s a heck of a field. Let’s grab a wobblepop and catch this one!!
Here’s The Field –
He three race win streak was snapped after running third in the Ballston (GII) here at SAR. Certainly nothing to be ashamed of there and she’s a tough race mare, you have to give her a big chance every single time she loads into the gate. Same here, look for a big run from her.
Got back on the winning side of things last out taking an Alw group at ELP where she won by a neck. She has had issues running against this kind of horses lately, showing a fourth and a ninth vs. graded horses in her last three. She’s going to need her best to compete with this group… there are no slouches here.
She’s hitting on all eight cylinders right now… three for six this year, all stakes, including two graded wins in her last three starts. I though that last out win at AP was her best race to date. She is certainly running big and this looks like another good spot for her to flex her muscles.
She won her first start of the 2020 season, then it’s been close-but-no-cigar since. Four graded efforts and on the board in each of those races including a near miss last out on a wet PRX course. She looks ready to give a big effort in this one as well.
She’s won two of her last three starts, all this season as they been light with her this year. Nice stakes win at GP to kick off 2020, then a fifth in the Wiley (GI) at KEE, then won again here taking down NY-bred stakes horses. She should be in the middle of things.
She’s a monster, no doubt about it… ten wins from twenty-two starts and she has three wins this year that include the Hillsboro (GII), the Gamely (GI) and the Ballston (GII). As long as it doesn’t rain, she should be right in the middle of this one.
She has a ton of money in the bank and has run some very big races in her life. But… there’s always a but… her last two have been rather dismal, running seventh in The NY (GII) and then last of eleven in The Ballston (GII). She needs to turn it around in a big way.
Her lone seasonal win was in Mar when she DH’ed in the Santa Anna (GII). She was second vs. Alw horses last out, so she needs to show some of that old class and form or this could be another long day at the office.
She’s still looking for her first win of the 2020 season and it’s been tough. She was second in the Royal Heroine (GII) at SA back in Apil, but then some more bad starts and was sold prior to this one. Can the new barn turn her around?
Another monster mare… the defending BC F&M Turf (GI) champ, took the Just A Game (GI) last out. Only four starts this year, but she knows when to peak and that’s when the money is on the line. Catches a tough post here, but she won the BC last year from the fourteen hole. She’s as good as the come.
