Just Four Go to Post in a Disappointing Turn Out for Great Lady M Stakes

Great Lady M Stakes – Grade II
LA Race #1 6 1/2f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $200.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.

There will be a few trainers kicking themselves for not throwing something in this race as only four runners go for a $ 200 purse. It looks like Mo Mentum helped this race go with the two entries so good luck to them against two of the biggest stables in the game.

1   Canary For One   Mo Mentum Farm   Baze T C

A consistent sprinter who gets her chance from the ace draw. She is no superstar but more one of those dogged triers but her last two starts have been a bit improved and this may be just the type of race that she can break through in.

2   Baptisted By Fire   Mo Mentum Farm   Maldonado E

Being a six year old gives her a slight edge over the younger rivals and she did very well to win the Desert Stormer from a wide draw last time out suggesting she may be ready for this level. She has shown early pace before but i feel she is better coming from off the speed so she may book end the race with her stable mate and come over the top late.

3   Deeback   Mb Stables   Cedillo A

Won a decent Allowance over this trip last time and whilst her races this year have all been at that level she does have a stakes win to her name as well as a close second in the grade one Test. Her works are very strong and she look like the type to take advantage of this small field.

4   Molly Cat   Maxmillion Farm   Pyfer J

The stable bought this filly for $50 after some solid runs at good level without really being tested at graded level. It didn’t take long for the new stable to test her out and sure enough we saw two improved efforts with two close seconds at grade two level. A look at her form says the trainer hasn’t really settled on her best trip or surface yet but this short field was probably just too good to miss.

SUMMARY

A tough race to call but one feels that Deeback may just be the one to come out on top. I can see Molly Cat getting the wide gate speed push and leading early and she may hold on for second but i rather like Baptised By Fire to be finishing hard to spoil the party.
