Well, with 50% of the field it was expected that one of the stables horses would win this and the one thing we have got used to at HRP is that it is usually the one that everyone least expects. This one had been weakening from on the pace in his last 4 runs, even over 5 and a half furlongs but today he reverted to the closer that saw his last graded win in the Commonwealth last November and it was to prove successful. With just two optional claiming wins and now this handicap four-year-old this year the four-year-old will take his place against the elite in the Breeders Cup Turf and who is to say that if the race engine allows him to be a deep closer again, we may see another win.
On the plus side this confirms beyond doubt that many four-year-olds have now got their mid-season boost and that will certainly make the championship races more competitive. Good Luck to Mo Mentum Farms in the Big one!!

I always felt that this one would get the better of the front runner but as often happens the leader and the stalker are caught by something coming from behind. The trainer will be happy it was the stable mate that did the catching, but it would have been interesting to see a horse that was being beaten in a little claimer in June making the Breeders Cup field. Whatever happens to this one in the future this was a great claim.

So, last time out over this trip this one was 100/1 and after running on the pace did really well to be third. Today he was made favorite and once again went on the pace and once again ran really gamely to be third. It seems his destiny to be the nearly horse regardless of class or type of race but you can’t knock him for effort and consistency and both of those will continue to earn him pay checks.

He has a real problem with finishing his races and once again ran promisingly enough without ever looking likely.
