Eight fillies and mares took to the track on Monday for the running of the Grade 2 Mabee Stakes, and our pick to win, Threshold’s Voltaire went off at rather generous odds of about 8/1, as apparently bettors did not think that last year’s runner up in this race could improve on that.
Racing for the year concludes at KD this Wednesday, but it will go out with a bang as a field of fourteen will take part in the third running of the Dueling Ground Oaks, sending three year old fillies a long way around its turf course. $2,000.00 is on the line for the top four finishers, with the winner not only getting the top prize, but they will join a pretty impressive short list of previous winners of the race.

This year’s Ladies Marathon promised a head to head battle between the last two winners of the race as 2024 winner Lady Hilltopper took on the 2025 winner, One Spirit. They would prove to be the class of this field, as well, finishing 1-2 with Lady Hilltopper providing yet another example of what has made her one of the greats, especially within this particular division.
Another edition of the Hopeful is in the books, and it will be exciting to watch where all of these horses end up and how many greats emerge from this field. One that will certainly get a lot of attention is Umoja, who came from way back in the field to score the victory for London Racing!
The tote board for the race displayed about as balanced odds throughout the field as you’ll see, but our top picks would all show up, hitting the trifecta straight up, and one spot away from getting the full top four right. That doesn’t make us anything, but it does get Maxmillion Farm the top prize as his filly, Acapulco Gray, earns the win!
