  • Who’ll Have the Winning Card in The MTH Stakes?

For the 12th time, the MTH Stakes, held at its namesake venue, will be going to post and it will send a field of eight a total of nine furlongs around the turf course. Headlining this field will be Hollywood Capo, a winner of over $1,000.000 in his career, but that doesn’t mean the others are going to be in awe of him.

  • Simmer Down Stable Looks to Ace The Poker Stakes with a King

The cards have been drawn for the 18th running of the Poker Stakes, a Grade 3 event for older horses on the turf, sending them a mile. The details of the race have changed over the years, with three year olds being allowed to participate as well until 2014. That same year saw the purse size triple from $100.000 to $300.000 before settling to it’s current level in 2020.

  • Fashionable Overpowers Z Command in Stretch to Take The Phipps Stakes

With a loaded field for the Phipps Stakes on Saturday, we were promised a great race. They were all accomplished stars, with all but one horse having won over $900.000 and there was nothing wrong with the one that has not hit that figure yet. This is a race where it would not be about form or works as they all can get it done.

  • Roman Rage Battles Along Rail to Win The Jaipur

Roman Rage is certainly no stranger to the race track, as he would be making the 58th start of his career in the Grade 1 Jaipur, and recently he has shown the trend of being the type of horse that shows up when the races are the biggest. Running in this race on BEL day would certainly qualify as being that type of race, and the eight year old gelding would, once again, run his best and this time it results in a victory.

  • Perfectly Pink Gets a Perfect Ten in The NY

All eight of the horses in the NY were more than capable of winning the race. Some may have been a little more known then others, but this had the makings of a great race. It was certainly not a surprise that the red hot Perfectly Pink was the winner, but the fact that she cruised to a three to four length victory was an eye opener.

  • It’s a TS Turf Sprint Rematch in The Jaipur

The starting gate will be full for the 19th running of the Grade 1 Jaipur as we get closer to the running of the BEL. This is a six furlong turf sprint, and valuable BC points are available in addition to the $400.000 purse.

  • Z Command Is Back in The Phipps Stakes

Z Command will head to the Phipps Stakes this year, looking to successfully defend her crown as the race’s champion, and become the first ever two-time winner of the race. It will not come easy for her, as six others look to bring her down.

  • Start Spreading the News as the Stars Come Out in NY

It’s going to be a great weekend at BEL, but all of the excitement is not on Saturday! On Friday, we still have several exciting races, and they are highlighted by a first-time Grade 1 event, the running of the NY. Until this year, the race has been a Grade 2, but now it gets the top classification out there.

  • Ginger Tiara Sets New Stake Record in The Regret

Coming into The Regret, Ginger Tiara did seem as though she was one of the better horses in the field, but maybe not the one to beat. Coming off a very close second place finish three weeks ago at a mile and a half in the Santa Barbara, she was hoping to continue that momentum here.

  • Directors Chair Has The Resume, But Is She The Regret Favorite?

As a part of the CD card this Saturday, we will have the 19th running of The Regret, but there is nothing to regret over the purse level. The $200.000 is an increase of $75.000 on the amount that it ran for last year, and for a race that had been running at $100.000 for a while, it is good to see the change.
