Chalk Up Another Woodward Win for Spankersville
Last year, Spankersville handled what was a muddy track at AQU, and won the Woodward by two lengths, after having won the JC Gold Cup the race prior. This time around, the track would be dry but that would be just about all that was different in the race, as Spankersville once again took care of business.

Spankersville Should Be the Favorite to Win Woodward Again
On Saturday at the Big A, we will have either the seventh or the 22nd running of the Woodward, which is for three year olds and upwards on the main track. The confusion can come in due to the fact that the game separates the 2006-2020 editions run at SAR from the regular Woodward history.

King Que Niagra Seeks Third Straight Hirsch Turf Classic Win
For the last two years, King Que Niagra has celebrated a victory in the Hirsch Turf Classic and he will be back this year to try and complete the hat trick. Eight others are here to try and prevent that from happening as this Grade 1 turf race takes place for the 22nd time.

Drinkin Creepin Looks to Return to Winners Circle in Eddie D Stakes
Out west on Saturday, we will have the 21st running of the Eddie D Stakes, which is a turf sprint for three year olds and upward, and the race has received a very exciting purse increase. This had been a race with a purse of $100.000 or $200.000, but now in 2024, we have a large increase all the way to the $750.000 level.

Statement Victory for Divine Moonlight in The Cotillion
The field for the 2024 running of the Cotillion certainly lived up to its reputation of being as high caliber as a BC race may be. With so many different winners of big races leading into it, and others that did well in those races without winning them, it could be easy to look past a horse like Divine Moonlight.

Perfect Trip Wins Knoblauch PRX Dirt Mile
Heading into the PRX Dirt Mile, Knoblauch had accomplised a lot over his 22-race career, but the one thing that he had done yet was win a race that was a mile or more. He’s been able to win sprints, and has run competitively in longer races, but until now, he was not able to say that he had won one.

Chilled Niagra Ices the Field in Turf Monster Handicap Win
Having turf monsters is nothing new for Maxmillion Farm, but until this year, the trophy for the Turf Monster Handicap was not a part of his trophy case. Three months ago, he claimed Chilled Niagra for $25.000, and now just two starts later, the gelding is a stake winner.

Once Again, The Cotillion Draws a Loaded Field
Over the years of covering races, I have had the pleasure of writing up the Cotillion on many different occasions. While you can always expect a $1,000.000 race that is six weeks before the BC to draw a loaded field, it always seems that the Cotillion takes that to another level and is especially competitive.

Looking for Our Next Turf Monster at PRX
On the undercard of the PA Derby and the Cotillion on Saturday at PRX, turf sprinters will also get a chance to run for a nice purse as the 18th running of the Turf Monster Handicap takes place. The race was ungraded when it debut in 2007, and was upgraded to a Grade 3 in 2011.

Late Entries Allows PRX Dirt Mile to Fill; Draws Six
As the cutoff to nominate horses for this approached, there was some concern that it might not fill. In the long run, we were able to get enough entries here, in the fourth running of the ungraded PRX Mile. There will be six heading to the starting gate, and the field looks very competitive.
