Figured The Storm Figures Out The Rain In Cigar Mile
Saturday was a wet day at many race tracks across the virtual nation, and AQU was not immune to the raindrops on this day. The track would be downgraded to “good”, but it would not lead to any scratches. When there is a rain, you want a horse that knows how to figure out a storm, so it is only fitting that our pre-race pick to win, Figured The Storm, would end up getting the win.

Who Will Hook a Winner in Valedictory Stakes?
Sunday will mark the 13th time that the Valedictory Stakes takes place, a race that sends horses twelve furlongs around the main track. It can be considered a smaller Grade 3, given the $150.000 purse.

The Matriarch Is a Mini BC Fillies and Mares Turf Rematch
A strong field has assembled at DMR for the Grade 1 Matriarch, a race that it almost a rematch of the BC Fillies and Mares Turf from last month. Seven horses in this field ran in that race, and while we won’t have the winner, Perfect Class, here, we will such greats like La Terrifiant, Maggie Greene, Proud Eights, and much more.

Time To Figure Out The Cigar Mile Handicap
There is a lot of excitement at the Big A on Saturday, as the Grade 1 Cigar Mile Handicap will be taking place. The starting gate will be full for the race that offers the largest purse that we will see anywhere during the month of December.

Tokyo Story Shines Brightest in Golden Rod
The 20th running of the Golden Rod took place Saturday at CD, giving two year old fillies a chance to earn some valuable KYO points in addition to the winner’s share of the $400.000 purse. A race like this can always seem up for grabs between at least half of the field, and that was certainly the case here.

Shining Moments Scores Impressive Win in Falls City Handicap
There is no denying that Shining Moments is a great horse that has had a great career. Her recent form, however, did not excite, and this led to her being considered a longshot for the race, at odds close to 19/1.

Who Will Shine Beautifully In The Golden Rod?
This Saturday at CD, we will have some KYO points on the line in the 20th running of the Golden Rod. It’s not a lot, with ten points going to the winner, but you never know in May if we will be in a position where one or two points earned a couple days after Thanksgiving might be what gets a horse into that race.

Six Look to Feast on Falls City Handicap
CD has given us plenty to be thankful for on Thanksgiving, with two appealing Grade 3 events. Here, we will look at the Falls City Handicap, which provides the largest purse offered on the day, a generous $500.000.

Somehow A Longshot, Black Moon Concerto Wins Arnaz Stakes
The last time that Black Moon Concerto was on the track, it was in the Grade 1 Alcibiades, and while she did only finish fifth in the race, it was against a much stronger field than she would be meeting in the Arnaz Stakes. She had otherwise been good, we made her our pick to win.

Arnaz Stakes Only Draws Six
There will be six fillies going to post for the fifteenth running of the Arnaz Stakes, a race that debuted in 2004 at HOL, but has not been run every year. This stake, for some odd reason, never seems to pull a big field over it’s history and that confuses me given the extra importance of two year old racing within our game.
