  • Afterburner Saves His Best for the Stretch in Sycamore

The top two horses to beat in the Sycamore seemed to be Afterburner and Winter Solstice, and people would head to the betting window to show their support for the two of them. After twelve furlongs on the grass, these two favorites would live up to their billing as being the ones to beat, finishing as the top two horses.

  • Up And Comers Highlight The Sands Point

A field of seven will be going to post for the 18th running of the Grade 2 Sands Point, a race that has seen it’s purse level bounce around a lot more than other races. It would initially debut as a $100.000 race, but gradual increases saw it go as high as $500.000 in 2015 and 2016.

  • Sycamore Sees Purse Increase and Strong Field

There is no shortage of talent this Friday in the Grade 3 Sycamore, as a field of seven will be headlined by Winter Solstice, who will be running in new silks for the race. However, the rest of the field is plenty capable of spoiling his debut for his new trainer.

  • Munich Captures Bourbon

When looking at the Bourbon, it did not really appear as though there was a standout horse in the race. You could make the case for most of the horses in the field, and that is especially true when talking about two year old turf horses going long.

  • Indian Summer Is Insurmountable in Indian Summer

It isn’t common for a horse to be entered into a stake that shares its name, and a lot less common for said horse to actually win the race. In the Indian Summer, we had a good chance of that happening, as the horse Indian Summer seemed to be the one to beat, and would be the post time favorite.

  • Pxg Makes the Outside Work in The Shadwell Turf Mile

It’s never easy to start from the outside, but if there was a horse to have confidence in that was starting from there, that would be Pxg. The gelding came into The Shadwell Turf Mile off a win in the KD Turf Sprint from the far outside. If he could do it there, then surely he could do it here.

  • Strong Field for Bourbon on Sunday

The great racing at KEE continues on Sunday, as trainers hope to earn BC points to bring their horses back here in a month for virtual racing’s biggest weekend. One race you can always count on to be very competitive is the Grade 2 Bourbon for the valuable BC Juvenile Turf points that it offers.

  • Indian Summer Winning Indian Summer Seems Logical

While other stake races going at KEE over the weekend have a longer history, the Indian Summer has only been held since 2018, and is still an ungraded stake. That does not keep it from being a great opportunity to pick up BC points, as well as the winners share of a $250.000 purse, the highest that the race has seen to date.

  • Gate Is Full for The Shadwell Turf Mile

Once again, we have a fantastic weekend of racing on tap as the last chances to earn BC points are upon us. KEE will be where all that action takes place, but we don’t have to wait a month to see big time racing from the track.

  • Charleys Latte Makes a Classic Statement in The Woodward

It is always a good thing to go into a big race hot, and that’s exactly what Charleys Latte will be doing in the BC Classic next month after scoring a win in the slop at AQU in The Woodward. For this five year old horse, it is his third straight win, and it follows victories in the Whitney and the JC Gold Cup.
