Neither Weight Nor Rain Can Slow Banshee Star In Baruch Handicap
If everyone was at an even weight in the Baruch Handicap, there would have been no questioning whether or not Banshee Star would be the one to beat. But, even with carrying 4-5 pounds more than everyone else, bettors as well as us here in the SRF still had plenty of confidence in him to get the job done.

Four Years Later, Combat Wombat Wins Pacific Classic Again
In 2018, a three year old horse by the name of Combat Wombat was making his fourth career start in the Pacific Classic. He had been impressive right from the start of his career, so it wasn’t something that was considered an upset. Now, four years later, with most of the 2018 field either deactivated or serving as sires, Combat Wombat was back in the Pacific Classic.

Tiger Claw Captures DMR Mile
In his last start, Tiger Claw came from way, way back to get up for fifth, and he was a deep closer in the race that came before it as well. Trainer London Racing could have taken that approach with his gelding again, but instead opted to have him at least in the middle of the field early on this time.

Banshee Star Must Overcome Weight Disadvantage in The Baruch Handicap
On Monday, racing for the 2022 SAR meet will come to a close. It’s been a good one with a meet title that could potentially be decided on the last day based on the standings Saturday morning. Evenly Matched Field in DMR Mile
A field of six will be going to post for the 17th running of the DMR Mile, which is part of the Pacific Classic undercard. It’s a Grade 2 race run on the turf, and the general conditions of the race have been fairly consistent through time.

The Jerkens Memorial One of Several Mb Wins at the Spa Saturday
Rogue Commando has been stuck on the outside for pretty much her entire career since being acquired by Mb Stables in January, and on many occasions, it’s been a double digit number. For the Jerkens Memorial, the gelding may have thought it was weird to be so close to the rail to the start, but the better post position would help him turn a string of seconditis into a victory.

In The Ballston, Proud Eights Gets Eighth Graded Win
We would be left with only five horses for the Grade 2 Ballston with the scratches of both Classic Princess and La Terrifiant, but there would still be plenty of quality left in the race. We would have a close finish between two horses that also ran against one another here in the Diana last month.

Oleg Shows His Good Side in CT Classic Win
A field of nine took to the bullring at CT for the annual CT Classic, looking for the winner’s share of the $1,000.000 purse. Among them was Oleg, one of those horses that if he could ever be consistent, could be up there with some of the greats in the game right now.
