Indian Summer Winning Indian Summer Seems Logical
While other stake races going at KEE over the weekend have a longer history, the Indian Summer has only been held since 2018, and is still an ungraded stake. That does not keep it from being a great opportunity to pick up BC points, as well as the winners share of a $250.000 purse, the highest that the race has seen to date.

It is always a good thing to go into a big race hot, and that’s exactly what Charleys Latte will be doing in the BC Classic next month after scoring a win in the slop at AQU in The Woodward. For this five year old horse, it is his third straight win, and it follows victories in the Whitney and the JC Gold Cup.

After watching a horse he let get away win the Miss Grillo, Arindel was able to sit back a little more and enjoy the running of the Champagne, as Peace Pipe handled the slop well to win the race in a photo finish.

Back in August, Mb Stables put in a $50.000 claim to purchase Greek from Arindel. At the time, he probably didn’t think he was claiming a BC Juvenile Fillies runner, but the filly will be there just as long as Mb wants her to be, with the Miss Grillo win.

Saturday at AQU will feature some great races for two year olds, but it will be finished off by hosting some of the best active horses in our virtual world today with the fifth running of The Woodward. The race debuted in 2003, and was held for three years before reappearing on the schedule in 2021.
