Let’s Have Some Pride In The Quick Call
The first Sunday of the SAR meet will feature the 13th running of the Quick Call, which is a quick race on the turf, just five and a half furlongs. A full field of twelve will be going to post for what is the highest purse ever offered by the race, at $175.000.

Time To Meet Some Two Year Olds In The Sanford
The SAR meet has started, and amid all of the great races that will take place here are some excellent chances for two year olds to make a name for themselves at the start, and then to leave the meet feeling hopeful for what the rest of the fall and beyond will have in store for them.

Smooth Sailing For Shadow Police In IND Oaks
Unlike the DEL Handicap, the IND Oaks did not really have that one horse that stood out. Most seemed to have a good shot at taking home the victory while having one thing about them that may have caused a little concern about their chances. It was certainly a great opportunity for one of these horses to make a statement, and doing so would be Shadow Police, for Smokey Stover.

A Masterpiece For Precise Performance In DEL Handicap
Precise Performance has had a fantastic career, winning the BC Distaff and placing second in the BC Fillies and Mares Sprint. She’s continued to run well this year, but for some reason the betting public allowed her to go off at 8/1 odds. We didn’t make that mistake, as we did put her on top, and the mare put on a precisely good performance to back up our support.

Is The IND Oaks Finally Where Angelic Wins Again?
It’s a rare opportunity for IND to see some action, as the track plays host to both the IND Derby and the IND Oaks. Here, we will take a look at the Oaks, which draws a field of five fillies, three of which did noteworthy action on the “Derby” side of things during the spring.

Precise Performance Goes Long Again In Strong DEL Handicap
We’re back at DEL this weekend for one of the biggest races of the meet, the $500.000 DEL Handicap, for fillies and mares. When this race first appeared on the schedule in 2006, it had a $1,000.000 purse associated with it, but would lose $250.000 in 2010, and then sunk all the way to $400.000 last year, so at least we can say the purse is going in the right direction.

Matamata Scratches Out a Hard Fought DEL Oaks Victory
A couple of scratches left us with just four horses for the DEL Oaks, and in a close race on a track listed as good, it would be Matamata picking up the win for Smokey Stover.

Letters By The Way Wins Kent Stakes in Dominant Fashion
This April, Wood Duck Stables moved Letters By The Bay back to the turf, a surface he only had one career start on, a race he had won. It has certainly proven to be the right decision, as this horse is now a perfect 4-for-4 while running on the grass.

Saturday Khartoum Gets It Done Again, Wins Foster
At eight years old, Saturday Khartoum would have an excuse if his form started to decline, but that isn’t anywhere close to happening right now. In the Foster Handicap, which was the 41st start of his career, this gelding came from off the pace to beat a strong field at the Grade 2 Foster.
