  • Field of Six for Kent Stakes

Part of the action at DEL on Saturday will be the 17th running of the Kent Stakes, a Grade 3 event for three olds on the turf. It is a race that was once held in much higher regard, going for a $500.000 purse for it’s first two years, but then the reductions began happening. The low point would be $150.000.

  • Sister Crespi the Likely Favorite in DEL Oaks

This Saturday, we get to enjoy some racing from DEL as a field of six fillies goes to post for the 17th running of the DEL Oaks. This has never been a race to attract a large field for some reason, as in checking the field sizes for the last ten years, either five or six horses were entered.

  • Time for a Gold Cup Rematch in Foster

Some of the top older horses in the game are headed to CD this weekend for the 20th running of the Foster. Valuable points for the BC Classic are available for the top four finishers, and looking to pick up the winner’s share again will be Charleys Latte.

  • Wood Duck Stables Raises the Bar in Soggy Crowd Pleaser

It was a rainy day in the northeast today, and PRX would not be spared from mother nature. The wet weather left the turf course as soft. That would be great news for the longest shot on the board, Barr, as the gelding would go off at odds of nearly 11/1.

  • Let’s Give Tellcharlieitsforyou The Wild Applause

None of the horses in the Wild Applause had a resume that made them stand out over any of the other ones. It was a field of six hopefuls looking to advance their career. Tellcharlieitsforyou had hit the board in each of her six starts, and came out of an allowance with a higher purse than this race.

  • It’s A Dead Heat in The Mother Goose

While the headliner for the race would be Exactly, the KYO winner, it would be the two that started on each side of her in the gate that would steal the show from her as Venezia and Ask Forfree Delivery would finish in a dead heat.

  • Five Look to Please a Monday Crowd

We’ll get some Monday racing this week, as the great breeding state of Pennsylvania features the sixth running of the Crowd Pleaser, sending three year olds a little over a mile on the turf course at PRX. There will only be five going to post, and they will be hoping to live up to the name of the race.

  • Looking for a Filly to Generate Some Wild Applause

The Wild Applause is an ungraded stake held at BEL, and this year we will have a field of six in it. Chances are, unless you own them (or have owned them), these are horses that you have never heard of before as no one has made over $100.000 in earnings to this point, and half the field has made less than $50.000.

  • Exactly Is Back in Action for The Mother Goose

Exactly will return to the race track for the first time since winning the KYO at the beginning of May for the Mother Goose, and six others will be looking to bring her down in what should be an entertaining race. It is the 18th time that the former Grade 1 stake has been held.

  • Jinxed Artist Opens Eyes with Dominant Monomoy Girl Win

Jinxed Artist was making her first start in a stake in the inaugural Monomoy Girl, and in a race that was wide open with no clear headliner, she seemed to have a very good shot at it. She had won two of three and had an appealing work at PRX coming into the race.
