  • Freddo Cappuccino Sets Queens Plate Record In Win

At a time of year when most talented three year olds are showing their talents in TC prep races, and potentially the TC themselves, Freddo Cappuccino sat idle in a barn. He raced once as a two year old, at GRP in September, and would not be seen again on the track until the beginning of June. Since then, he’s been able to race, and show what he is capable of doing, and what he is capable of is winning the Queens Plate.

  • Shes One Of A Kind Makes It Look Easy in ONT Colleen Stakes

Six horses went to the starting gate for the ONT Colleen Stakes, and weather would not be a problem this far north, so the turf course was firm. This would be a race where the horses that were expected to do the best ended up stepping up and running well.

  • Half the Field Wins The Iselin Stakes

This area experienced some rain, downgrading the track to good, and that may have been the reason for the scratch of Tomahawks. The filly was the main storyline of the race, to see how her potential nine pound weight allowance would help. With her no longer in the picture, we were down to four runners, and half of them would end up as winners.

  • Meet the Field for this Year’s Queens Plate Stakes

One of the biggest races of the year in Canada takes place on Sunday in the annual Queens Plate Stakes. It is the 15th time that race has been run, and it can often be counted on to see some of the top three year olds, in general, in the game, since breeding in Ontario is popular here.

  • No Standouts in Wide Open ONT Colleen Stakes

Sunday will be an exciting day of racing north of the border, and as we get ready for the Queen’s Plate, we have much more on the undercard. One of those races is the twelfth running of the ONT Colleen Stakes, a mile long turf race for three year old fillies.

  • Enormous Weight Allowance May Make Difference in The Iselin Stakes

Only five horses will be going to the gate for the Iselin Stakes, but that does not mean a lack of quality. Two horses have amassed over $1,300.000 in earnings, with another just a bit shy of $700.000. Therefore, we should still have a good and entertaining race on Saturday.

  • Three Straight For Ginger Sand After Longacres Mile

Ginger Sand came into the Longacres Mile hot, with wins in his last two races, and that earned him the chance to make his graded stakes debut. He had been working well, and drew one of the better jockeys at EMD, so he seemed like a pretty good bet.

  • Three Straight for John Henry in The Former AP Million

John Henry didn’t bring Dead Madness to run in the rebranded AP Million, so we couldn’t see that one try to win the race three years ago, but that didn’t mean the trainer couldn’t accomplish the feat. This year, John Henry brought Winter Solstice to this race, a horse that had won three of his last five races but needed to rebound after a tough outing.

  • It’s a 1-2 Finish for Mb Stables in The SAR Special

Another two year old graded stake, another win for Mb Stables. After winning the two big fillies races that were run last week with Paris Pinnacle Party and Incendiary, there would be no let up in the SAR Special. In this race, Mb Stables would take home the top two spots, as Hilarity gets the win while being followed by Statuesque.

  • Jockeys Can Make Big Difference in Longacres Mile

Moving away from the big tracks on Sunday, we head to the Pacific Northwest and EMD for the 14th running of the Longacres Mile. It’s a purse that has decreased in time, after initially debuting at $300.000 and attracting the likes of Alpha Ultimo, who went on to win the race.
