Capping off an exciting Saturday of racing would be the running of the Grade 1 Pacific Classic, which interestingly featured eight of its ten runners coming out of the Whitney at SAR, especially when they could have stayed there for the JC Gold Cup. An automatic spot in the BC Classic was at stake and it is now official that the reigning champion of that race will be able to defend his title.

Eight Whitney Runners Battle It Out Again in Pacific Classic
Over its history, the Pacific Classic has seem some truly great horses end up in the winner’s circle. From Icicle in 2005, we’ve also seen Barbarino, Nile Warrior, Ginger Haggis, and Graveyard score the victory. Riggins Racing is certainly no stranger to success at the highest levels, but with his barn not being as active as it had been in the past, we have been unable to talk about him winning major races at the same frequency. He’s had plenty of reason to celebrate thus far in his return, and now in the Ballerina, he can do a little dancing as well, because he’s clinched another spot in the BC.
