Proud Bo Outlasts Hammerfest to Win The BEL Gold Cup

Last year, the combination of TwinTowersRacing and J R Velazquez hooked up to win the BEL Gold Cup, and now a year later, they have done it again! Getting the honors this time is Proud Bo, a four year old gelding that has not won a lot as of yet in his career but there is plenty of time for him to change that.

Full Field of Fourteen in Metropolitan Handicap

The final jewel of the TC is not the only major race taking place at BEL, as there are six Grade 1’s with half of them having major implications for the BC. Here we will look at the Metropolitan Handicap, a “win and in” race for the BC Dirt Mile with a nice $1,000.000 purse to be divided up between the top four finishers.

Zalinda Shows Why She Was the Favorite in The Gamely Stakes

Heading into the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes, it did seem as though Zalinda was the horse to beat. The seven year old mare had been consistently finishing in the money at the graded level even if they were not all victories. This would make her our selection as well as the pick of the bettors as she was made the post time favorite.

This Memorial Day, we’ll have plenty of great racing taking place and that will include Grade 1 action from SA. It is here where the 18th running of the Gamely Stakes will take a place, a race that has been a Grade 1 since inception. In its early years, it was run at HOL, and would move over to SA when that track faded into the history books.
