Spring Street Springs Past Them All to Win Santa Maria Stakes
Only five horses would be entered into the Grade 2 Santa Maria Stakes, and the one we picked to win the race, High Voltage’s Spring Street would take care of business, going off at odds of 3/1, and winning by almost two full lengths.
American Generals Earns Impressive Win in Elkhorn
It did not come as much of a surprise when the Grade 2 Elkhorn came down to a battle between American Generals and Kidding. Both had been running very well, and as we got closer to the wire, they had left the rest of the field behind. Only one of them could win, and the post time favorite, American Generals would hold off his rival for his eleventh career win.
Just Five for Santa Maria Stakes
A small field of five older fillies and mares will be heading to the starting gate for the 20th running of the Santa Maria Stakes. This is a Grade 2, on the main track, and a little over a mile in length.
High Voltage Isn’t Kidding Around in Elkhorn
This Friday at KEE, we will see an increased purse for the running of the Elkhorn, up $50.000 from where it had been the last three years. The race is a mile and a half on the turf, and has seen some well known horses pick up its trophy, including Bronze Sabre and a favorite of mine from a long time ago, Ashkalani.
