In the previous sixteen editions, the purse was either $125.000 or $150.000, making this year’s amount double the prior high.

Maggie Greene returns to action this Saturday as she defends her title in the Grade 3 Noble Damsel. This race will for the 20th time, but it’s the first time that it takes place at AQU. Over the years, it has had a consistent purse level of being somewhere between $100.000 and $200.000, and it has always been a Grade 3.

The top two horses to beat in the Sycamore seemed to be Afterburner and Winter Solstice, and people would head to the betting window to show their support for the two of them. After twelve furlongs on the grass, these two favorites would live up to their billing as being the ones to beat, finishing as the top two horses.
