Gigafemme Overpowers Rivals in Stretch to Win Fifth Avenue

Gigafemme has made it a habit to run against NY-breds, but was still looking for her first win against them in a stake. She had run well in her two prior races, and was expected to do the same here as well. It turns out that she would wait until the purse reached this high point to grab the win, an impressive win of nearly two lengths.

Elegance on Display in LCD Lassie

The two year old stakes at LA were able to fill, so I’ll pick up the 15th running of the LCD Lassie on Saturday, which has also drawn a field of five. The purse for the race has been a consistent $100.000 throughout time, and that might be part of the reason the LA is getting passed over on the breeding side as other states have higher such purses.

LCD Juvenile Draws a Field of Five

Filling the LA-bred stakes this weekend was difficult, as four out of the seven scheduled such races failed to fill, including two races that I was given to cover. So, I will move on to one of the races that did get enough entries at FG, the LCD Juvenile, for two year olds.

The purse levels for the Fifth Avenue and Great White Way far exceed what we are seeing in other states. Here, we will look at the Fifth Avenue, which is the race for juvenile fillies.
