Next up, it’s time to take a look at CD, a long sprint on the main track for older horses. This race first appeared on the schedule in 2004 as the CD Handicap, for a $200.000 purse. Three years later, the race would simply be known as the CD. Some big names that have won this race include Ljosalfar, as well as Shoot Skyhigh, who won twice.

Three year old turf horses get their big race here at CD as well in the 22nd running of the Grade 1 American Turf. This will be the first time that race offers a $1,000.000 purse, up from $600.000 last year, and ten times the amount it ran for at inception back in 2004.
