Quiet Return Beats One of His Biggest Rivals in The Nerud

It may have been over a year ago when they won their big race, but the running of the Nerud featured two TC winners from 2023. Quiet Return, the KYD winner, would take on Gorogue Laga, the PRK winner here at AQU. It’s not particularly unusual to see that type of thing, but when you consider that this is a seven furlong race, it makes that fact a little more interesting.

The Dwyer Draws a Field of Ten

As a part of the big card on Saturday at AQU, the Grade 3 Dwyer will be running with a field of ten, for a $200.000 purse. That’s the same amount that was offered last year, and is similar to what it has been for most of its history. A brief stint at $400.000 and even $500.000 was the exception, and not the norm.

The Nerud Boasts Some Very Big Names

The gate is full for Saturday’s running of the Grade 2 Nerud at AQU, sending older horses seven furlongs on the main track. The race first appeared at BEL in 2014, and was run for a $400.000 purse, but unfortunately that dollar amount has only gone down since then.

Differing Paths Collide in The BEL Oaks

One of them is the BEL Oaks, which is a Grade 1 for three year old fillies on the turf. While the $500.000 purse is a big one, this race has seen larger, and went for $1,000.000 between 2014 and 2019.
