Back On Grass, Chaparral Cowboy Prevails in The Pennine Ridge

The last time that Chaparral Cowboy was on the turf, he won the Grade 3 De Mille Stakes at DMR, but after that, he would run on the main track for three straight races. Female turf horses will get their chance to shine at SA as well, as the Grade 1 Gamely Stakes brings together a field of six for a purse of $300.000. Like we saw with the Shoemaker Mile, this unfortunately represents a purse reduction, as it had been at $400.000 the last two years.

Balanced Field in The Pennine Ridge

On Saturday at AQU, we will have the tenth running of the Grade 2 Pennine Ridge, which is for three year olds on the inner turf and it moves here from BEL. It took a year for the race to receive graded status, and it would become a Grade 2 in 2020. The purse has been constant at $200.000 since inception.
