American Generals Earns Impressive Win in Elkhorn
It did not come as much of a surprise when the Grade 2 Elkhorn came down to a battle between American Generals and Kidding. Both had been running very well, and as we got closer to the wire, they had left the rest of the field behind. A small field of five older fillies and mares will be heading to the starting gate for the 20th running of the Santa Maria Stakes. This is a Grade 2, on the main track, and a little over a mile in length.

High Voltage Isn’t Kidding Around in Elkhorn
This Friday at KEE, we will see an increased purse for the running of the Elkhorn, up $50.000 from where it had been the last three years. The race is a mile and a half on the turf, and has seen some well known horses pick up its trophy, including Bronze Sabre and a favorite of mine from a long time ago, Ashkalani.
