Broke maiden at first asking but it’s been a bit tough since then. Third in the Tremont which brought on the Vet and the unkindest of cuts. Even that didn’t seem to help as he tired badly to be eighth in the Sanford (GIII) at SAR last out. Sharp barn so he certainly could improve here and he did break maiden from the rail – so maybe?
Got the job done at FE last out and they go right after stakes horses. He didn’t exactly beat the best in that race and his pedigree doesn’t say he’s much. He does show a couple of solid works, so maybe he’s got a bit of upside but I’m going to put my money on a couple others.
Beat state-breds down at LAD to get rid of the maiden tag. He was second as a first-time-starter over this strip, so he may like the going here. Still, nothing really jumps out at me so I’ll play my money elsewhere even though there is something about him that makes wonder.
Two wins in a row after a narrow loss in his first start and he took down a nice LA-bred stakes last out at EVD. That was a pretty quick race and I like the way he worked his way through the field to get the job done. He’s been working at SA, so I think the barn likes him a little bit. I give him a big shot to get the deal done in this one.
He’s won two of his last three with that dud in stakes company at BEL. His wins have come v. state-bred types, but that was a nice time in the 6f Alw win at DMR in his most recent. That NY race was on a wet track, so he may have an excuse for that one. Use him in the tri, that’s for sure.
Sixth at EMD in his most recent, in an overnight stakes there, and that came after breaking maiden on a wet strip at FE. He was close in all of his other races, and even that up-the-track effort last out, he closed a bit of ground late and looked like he wanted to go on. I can’t use him here today but he looks like a horse that will win a few.
Hard to say anything bad about this undefeated colt… closed like a freight train in both of those prior efforts and looks like a real nice horse. I don’t like that he doesn’t show a public workout since that last race, but maybe the barn is keeping this one close to the vest. Do not ignore.
Didn’t show much in that GP stakes effort after blowing them away at LAD in his maiden win. That Birdonawire race was pretty quick, but I don’t like the way he tired in the late stages of that one. Sure, he could bounce back and surprise them here today, but I think that’s what it would be… a surprise.
Two-for-two over the Dallas strip, taking down TX-bred horses in both of those races including a stakes that he won by four in a romp. Nice 6f bullet work over this strip the other morning tells me that he is ready to fire big again in this one and may be getting his picture taken again.
Both of his starts have come in in Arlington, and he got the deed done last out winning by three over a damp strip. That was a solid first-out effort as well, so there’s no doubt that he has ability. This is an obvious step-up in class, and the post does him no favors, but if he can really carry his speed like that, look out.
Closed well to be third in the Colin Stakes at WO in his most recent – that was after breaking maiden at SA in his first out race. Guess that tells you that he is capable of winning this one as well – you just have to hate the post draw. Still, if he fires back to that last out effort, he may be the one to beat.
