On a rainy day at Del there was a major scratch from the race, which brought the initial field of 4 down to a field of 3. I had a chance to speak to MB Stables about the scratch of Twisted Flyer and he told me that it had nothing to do with what the weather looked like but rather a meters issue. So as the 3 horses entered the gate the grass course was listed as yielding and Mucho Black was the heavy 1/9 betting favorite. As the gates sprung open there was one horse who wanted the lead and rocketed out to the front in Hidden Ranch, long shot Full of Trinity took up a stalking spot behind him, while Mucho Black trailed the field. 3 furlongs into the race the racing positions were had stayed the same however Mucho Black had almost pulled even with Full Of Trinity.   It did not take long for Mucho Black to run right on by Full of Trinity and he set his sights on Hidden Ranch. Just fewer than 5 furlongs into the race Much Black put his head in front of Hidden Ranch with Full Of Trinity sitting in 3^rd but he was only 2 lengths off the lead with 4 furlongs left to run. With under 3 furlongs to go Mucho Black was still in the lead but Full Of Trinity and moved past a fading Hidden Ranch and was hoping to mount a rally toward the leader. With 2 furlongs to go in the race Mucho Black held a 1 length lead over Full Of Trinity and Hidden Ranch continued his move further back. In the final drive to the wire Full Of Trinity was hoping to grind away at Mucho Black and pass him before the wire. With just under a half a furlong to go Full Of Trinity pulled eye to eye with Much Black, and found just a bit more to nose him out when the wire got there.   Hidden Ranch crossed the wire in 3^rd place.   Owner D J C Racing Stables has to be happy that his 99-1 long shot paid off and got his first stakes win.
