BC Fillies & Mares Turf – Grade I
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $2,000.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Good Line, trained by Mb Stables
The effect that a wet track has at HRP was shown once again to be pretty extreme as this filly that was beaten eight lengths behind Pip Kadabra last time turned that round by a massive 13 lengths on thsi better surface. Whatever anomaly is in the software with regards to rain thsi race was run on a sound surface and it was great to see the BEL Oaks winner bounce back to form with a solid win in the turf championship for the girls. The perfect draw and the perfect run certainly helped as she ticked all the positional boxes at this track in the race and ran out a three quarter length winner. Out of teh up and coming sire Decima she will have a bright future if she can find a little consistency and avoid teh rain in future.
2nd Well Built, trained by Team 7 Illusions
All the rage in the betting she was looking for a fifth straight win and it looked likely until the splits came for the eventual winner. Drawn a little wide she had to work to find a stalk but was still going well enough to be in front at the furlong pole. Eventually she got run down but lost nothing in defeat.
3rd Devil Wears Prada, trained by Axeman
A heart warming run from this gallant six year old who ran the race of her life to finish third. Very little has come from off the pace but she managed to storm home from almost last to finish third and left a tear in the eye of her army of admirers.
4th Eastern Sky
She couldnt do anymore than she did from the 13 stall and ran a great race for fourth. Going to a clear lead she was never going to last home after having her ears scrubbed off for the first two furlongs and this was a big effort.
The rest
Command And Conquer did very well for fifth from a horrible draw and will be around again next year and no doubt winning good races.
SUMMARY
Mb Stables grabbed yet another BC title with his BEL Oaks winner who bounced back to form at the right time.
