1st Controlled Power, trained by Spankys Barn
Broke well and briefly dueled for the lead before settling back into fourth. Raced within two lengths of the lead down the backstretch while the frontrunners set a quick pace. Started to slowly advance around the turn and powered to the front at the top of the stretch. Pulled away from the pace setters and had enough to comfortably hold off the closers.
2nd Going Gone, trained by Team 7 Illusions & 3rd Justin Credible, trained by Maxmillion Farm
These two raced as a team with Justin Credible just inside of Going Gone. They stayed together five lengths off the quick pace being set all the way down the backstretch. Moved as a team around the turn with Going Gone always staying a half length in front. Never really threatened the winner as they closed for the place and show respectively.
4th Mean Street, trained by Nakamura Stables
Raced near the back of the pack from his wide post position. Started his move at the same time as the 2nd and 3rd place finishers and was able to pass tired horses to get a minor check.
Summary
Well in the preview I anticipated a lively pace which we got but I had the wrong horses doing the closing. Congrats to Spanky on his first win of 2018 with what looks to be a great claim. Kenny Wisconsin does not look to be the same horse and Fractious will need to find a better spot for Sleet as I am sure the weight was a big factor with his dull effort.
