RACE 5 WO   Singspiel Stakes (GIII)
$150.000    3yo&Up   1  1/2m   Turf

You can’t keep a good thing down… and Mb Stables keeps on winning – and running second, for that matter.  Setting the pace throughout the Singspiel Stakes (GIII), a mile and a half marathon on the lush WO turf corse, Stormy Kg cruised under the wire in front by two lengths, in front of stable mate Bald And Beautiful, in a final time of 2:25.50.  Clocker was third, setting off an $18.30 trifecta.

The field of six made their way to the gate and were away in good order with Clocker showing good speed from the outside, Stormy Kg with that one from the far outside, then Bald And Beautiful.  Mayan Slew from the rail, Mameluke and Ubets Kruzen Kid was the early trailer.

They made the short run to the dog-leg and the clubhouse turn, nearing the backside with nine furlongs to run and Stormy Kg was in front by three lengths.  Clocker with Bald And Beautiful along side that one then a gap of four back to Mayan Slew, Ubets Kruzn Kid next to that one, and Mameluke trailing nine lengths from the leader.

Headed down the backside and nearing the far turn, the had five furlongs to run and Stormy Kg galloping along with a three length lead.  Clocker on the outside of Bald And Beautiful, gap of four back to Ubets Kruzn Kid to the inside of Mameluke, and Mayan Slew was now the trailer, eleven lengths covering the field.

Around the far turn and to the top of the lane, now just two furlongs to run and Stormy Kg still setting the pace, three in front.  Clocker and Bald And Beautiful continuing their joint trip, Mameluke four lengths behind that pair, then a length to Mayan Slew and Ubets Kruzn Kid .

Inside the final 150-yards and to the wire, this was about as easy as you could want to win one… Stormy Kg under the wire in an easy win.  Bald And Beautiful out-finished Clocker for the place, then a neck back to Mameluke in fourth.  Mayan Slew was fifth and Ubets Kruzn Kid closed this one out.

Stormy Kg is a 5yo bay gelding by Stormy – Wonderlust, by BigBoysBack, and he was bred in CA by Scorpion Stables.  Purchased just prior to this race by Mb Stables for $100.000, he now has eight wins from thirty-three starts and winnings of $2,515.840.  This was the first seasonal win for the classy old guy, and I’d expect him to keep on getting better!
