Sanibel Island Could All Come Down to the First 2 furlongs

Sanibel Island

1 T S Dancer, trained by Triple K
A winner on debut last July she was then tested on an easy surface at ungraded level but came up short in the OT Juvenile Fillies Turf. Given a long break she didnt run again last year but looked sharp on seasonal debut when taking a one win allowance over a mile. Its possible that the blip on her record was down to the shifty surface and her works have been pretty good so i would expect a strong showing today.

2 Exposure, trained by Mb Stables
Its impossible to write off one from this stable even though her form only looks fair for this. A good maiden winner at the end of the year she just got home in her allowance in January and was then given her chance in black type when taking on the Herecomesthebride Stakes. Stalking the early pace she gradually fell away in the end to be a well beaten fifth, not exactly encouraging but that was a better field than this so i expect a better showing today.

3 Splash Down, Jkk Racing Stables
A maiden winner at two she has run two soldi races as a three year old and looks the main contender here. A running on fourth in the Sweetest Chant she then went up against Exposure in the Herecomesthebride Stakes running a decent race to be third coming from well off the pace. I see no reason she can’t beat Exposure again and if she can get a bit closer early on i would expect her to be in at the finish.

4 Black Widow Spider, trained by Angelos Stable
If ever there was a horse you could call inconsistent it is this one. She looked like a superstar last year when scorching away by nine lengths in her maiden but then saw a 12 length turnaround as she was beaten in her next start which was won in the same race time as her maiden win. A poor effort on seasonal debut then saw her switch from dirt routing to turf sprinting to again win like a super start this time by three easy lengths. It really depends which filly turns up today, at her best she would win at her worst she would be close to last…..take your pick.

5 Childe Of Niagra, trained by Our Athletes
Niagra has two runners in this race and both look to have a fair chance. This one was tested after a narrow maiden win running well in the Durante Stakes when fourth but disappointing a little after that. She is generally an on pace runner so the wide draw may see her put on the speed but despite good works she hasnt shown enough to convince me she has the X Factor.

6 Summit, trained by D J C Racing Stables
The stable is in good form but like her half sister an on speed running style and a wide gate mean she will be there to be shot down at the end. Consistent in overnights she won her seasonal debut in a fast six furlong race at AQU and her works have been solid enough to make her a chance even from the wide gate.

SUMMARY
If the two wide gates set the pace then it will be down to how fast they go as to who will be the winner. If they get away without killing each other early then Summit would be a good chance and if the opposite happens then Spalsh Down or T S Dancer may take advantage.
