A Short But Strong Field in The Miss PS

The Miss PS – Grade III
                           PIM Race 10 6F – Dirt
                                Purse $150.000
                          Three Year Olds Fillies

Some very good young sprinting fillies are lining up to run in what looks like will be a very wet race track according to the forecast so we will have to look to some possible mud lovers to win. We’ve got a couple of stakes winners and a couple who are making to the jump to stakes competition for the first time.

1. Line Drive (11-3-0-2 $254.240), trained by Our Athletes, ridden by J R Velasquez 122lbs

This is a filly who was on the oaks trail and could not get into that final field of fourteen. Last out she ran third in the Ashland at KEE on the mud so I think she can handle an off track pretty well. She is cutting back in distance today so if she can sprint fast enough I think she can have a chance to win this race.

2. Make No Mistake (10-6-1-1 $304.050), trained by Mb Stables, ridden by I Ortiz Jr 122lbs

The highest earner in the field is coming off of two allowance level wins in a row. She had won on an off track before so that will not hurt her. She will need a fast pace to run because she likes to come from far back. If the pace is quick enough I think she can have a good chance to win.

3. Dolphins Bay (8-4-1-0 $54.760), trained by Jokerjoes, ridden by H A Karamanos 122lbs

A once upon a time claimer she is making a big jump up in class today from her recent starter allowance races which she ran first and second in. She has had one start on an off track which was her last start and she ran second in that race. I don’t know if she is good enough to win here though.

4. Flying Squirrel (10-5-3-0 $149.750), trained by Angelos Stable, ridden by J Pimentel 122lbs

A winner of the Times Stakes back in January at SUN but she has only found the winners circle once since then. She was second last out in the Beaumont at KEE and I think that performance can put her in the winners circle here. She has never ran on the off track before so that will be interesting to see how she performs.

5. Prima Dona (3-2-0-0 $26.060), trained by D J C Racing Stables, ridden by R Bejarano 122lbs

This filly has improved every start just like her SRF ratings show. After get first start she got a little layoff and has now win two in a row. Her maiden win was on the mud all she can handle the off track which will benefit her greatly. Maybe the wizard has a trick up his sleeve for this race.

Summary

Well Flying Squirrel and Line Drive look pretty tough with the two Make No Mistake right there behind them and the other two who will have to do some running to beat them. Look for one who looks like she will love the muddy going because that is what the forecast is calling for. Good luck to everyone.
