The DMR Oaks- GI
DMR Race 4 1 1/8M- Turf
Purse $300.000
Three Year Olds Fillies
A field of seven fillies will be lining up for the Del Mar Oaks on the oceanside oval and they are going to try and win this grade one race. It looks like a pretty competitive field for sure and I think it will be a very good race. Let’s take a look the field and see who the big horse in the field is.
1. Youthful Presence (3-2-1-0 $38.050), trained by Mb Stables
This filly is coming into the race off of two wins in a row which were her maiden breaking win and an allowance win. She will be making a big jump here to the grade one level but obviously Mb Stables thinks very highly of her and he usually doesn’t enter something that doesn’t have a chance.
2. Sexy Siberian (10-2-1-4 $47.900), trained by TwinTowers Racing
Just like the inside filly she has only won a maiden race and an allowance race in her career. She ran third last out in an allowance at WO. This is her first start in a stakes race so she will need to run her biggest race of her life to win but maybe she will. I don’t see her winning but you never know.
3. Nancy Broom Moytoy (11-3-2-4 $262.320), trained by Team 7 Illusions
This filly is coming off of a stakes win on this same exact turf course just about a month ago in the San Clemente. I didn’t give her a big chance that day but she proved me wrong and won the race pretty nicely. I think she is coming around and I do think she will be pretty tough in this spot.
4. Alligator (13-4-1-1 $351.800), trained by Maxmillion Farm
Here is another graded stakes winner and a filly who has ran fourth in two grade ones in a row. Quiver Pond beat her in the Belmont Oaks and then she ran fourth against older mares in the Diana. I’m going to make her my top pick and I definitely think she can win this race and I have faith in her.
5. Quakerce (11-6-0-0 $768.600), trained by Sir Daniel Martin
Last years Breeders Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner is coming into this race off of two straight wins. After her Breeders Cup win she struggled a little bit but has found groove again and looks to be getting back into form. I’m going to make her my second choice just because I want to see how she handles grade one competition again.
6. Moonlight Bliss (6-4-0-1 $101.580), trained by Fractious
This filly suffered her first defeat in four races last out in the San Clemente that Nancy Broom Moytoy won. She ran third and only got beat a length that day so I think she can turn the tables on that filly and beat her. She looks like she has a chance and I’ll make her my fourth pick in the race.
7. Yesterbae (10-4-2-1 $261.280), trained by Our Athletes
This filly will be making her second career start on the turf ever. She ran second in a stakes race last time on the turf but that was going six furlongs and now she is stretching out to a mile and an eighth. I don’t know if two turns is going to be her ticket but maybe she likes the turf enough to overcome it.
Summary
Well this is a pretty intriguing race I think as I think just about any one of the seven fillies can get the money. Alligator and Quakerce look like the top and then Nancy Broom Moytoy and Moonlight Bliss are right behind them. It’s going to be a good race and good luck to all the runners.
