Nice Field for The FG Oaks

The FG Oaks – GII [KYO]
FG Race 9 1 1/16M – Dirt
Purse $400.000
Three Year Olds Fillies

A field of nine was scheduled to contest this years Fair Grounds Oaks but there was one scratch so we will go with a field of eight. It is kind of a small field for a Kentucky Oaks points race but there are some pretty nice fillies in her for sure. Let’s go ahead and take a look at the field.

1. Panentheism (6-3-1-2 $261.190), trained by Smokey Stover

Right here we gave the winner of the last Oaks prep race that was run here at Fair Grounds as this filly won the grade two Alexandra Stakes by a neck. I do think that if she runs that same race she did that day she will have a very good chance at winning in here also and earning some more Oaks points.

2. Dream Whisperer (8-3-1-2 $231.060), trained by Mb Stables

Well here is another one that is coming out of the grade two Alexandra but she ran a bad eighth that day. She didn’t run like she usually does and she is better than that because she did win the grade two Golden Rod last fall. She might have needed her last out so I think she will run a lot better.

3. Hopewell Tradition (4-1-1-0 $76.400), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Well now this filly here is a tricky one to gauge because she only has one start on the dirt and that was her first career race. She is a stakes placed runner on the turf but I don’t know if that form can translate over to the dirt at all. She is a big question mark in this field for sure.

4. Letting Go (9-3-2-0 $229.110), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Scratched

5. Cardi B (7-2-2-2 $126.600), trained by Gdp Inc

This filly right here is coming into this spot off of a nice win against allowance company right here at Fair Grounds. She won that race by a head using her usual closing kick which got her up in time that day. She will need a fast pace up front to help out her running style.

6. Freaky Dancer (5-1-1-0 $34.400), trained by Mb Stables

The second of the three runners from Mb Stables right here and this filly enters this race off of a win against maiden special weight runners at Gulfstream which she won by a nose. I mean she ran a big race that day but this is a giant step up in class and she will have to run a huge one to win.

7. Book Of Aggravation (8-2-3-2 $209.340), trained by Estero Farms

And another one right here who is coming out of the grade two Alexandra and this filly was the runner up that day by a neck. She closed nicely that day and almost got up for the win. I think that if she runs the same type of race that she did that day she could win this race with a little bit of racing luck.

8. Stormy Embrace (3-1-1-0 $42.610), trained by Mb Stables

And the final horse from the three entries of Mb Stables right here and this filly is coming into this race off of a maiden breaking score against California bred maiden special weight runners. She ran good that day but like one of her other stablemates this is a huge step up in class and she will need to run huge to win.

9. Summertime (7-2-2-3 $218.300), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Finally last but not least is this filly right here on the outside who is coming into this race off of a third place finish in the Alexandra. She ran a big race that day after making a middle move and hitting the lead a bit too early. The post definitely hurts her but if she can overcome she has a good chance.

Summary

No doubt that this is a pretty good field of fillies with most of them coming out the most recent prep over this track. Five of the eight are returning to this track after their last start and I think that may help them out. It’s a tough field and I think any of them could win with racing luck.
