Sorrento Stakes – Grade II 6 1/2 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly 2 Year Olds.
1st Sneaky Fantastique, trained by Yahudi Stables
This filly just doesn’t seem to know how to lose. She is now three from three and she has yet to win a race by more than a length. Today as usual she got back early on but came with her customary late run to just get up by a head on the line. Bought for $350.000 after a debut maiden win she is beginning to look like a very good buy and must head to the BC a very strong fancy already.
2nd Dogs Money Maka, trained by Teamf Racing
Whilst the winner cost $350.000 after a debut run this one cost just $10.000 after hers and as she was only beaten a head you have to say she looks a bargain. Just run out of it after making the lead inside the final furlong she ran a cracker and looks to have a bright future. I would imagine these two could meet again but I think this was just about the best of her whilst Sneaky Fantastique looks to be improving.
3rd Technomin, trained by The Sidley Stud
Kept on well enough for third but always looked held by the first two. I have no idea how she started at such low odds compared to the two fillies that beat her in the My Dear but clearly she has improved since that defeat and this was a decent effort after her win in black type in her penultimate start.
4th Level Moon, trained by Asgar
Got into a close stalk but looked as if she just didn’t last home in the end finishing a close fourth. Its been a while since her win in the My Dear so she may have just needed this run.
5th Red Rose Of Texas
Got the lead but faded late in a fair effort at her first attempt at black type.
6th End Of Secrets
Ran the trail but never got into it.
7th Due Know How
Started well enough but faded badly and ran nowhere near her run in the My Dear
