Reuleaux Wins the Speed Battle in Green Flash Handicap

Green Flash Handicap – Grade III
5 Furlongs Turf Stake Purse $100.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Reuleaux Mb Stables Velazquez J R

As i said in the write up for this race class has no boundaries at HRP and after a win at lowly LAD this son of Commanding came out and did a great job in winning this grade three. He has always been consistent but four of his previous five wins had come in routes and thats another thing that doesnt seem to matter much at HRP if a horse is good enough. Traveling in behind the considerable speed he timed the run perfectly to get over them by a neck in the end. His age will always be a drawback but he found a good spot to demonstrate his ability and there is no reason he cant build a good sprinting record from here on out.

2nd Jolly Be Native John Henry Maldonado E

Another that came to sprinting from the routing ranks he is enjoying a resurgence of form recently and looked the winner as they hit the final furlong. The early pace was fierce though and he was vulnerable to the closer and just gave way at the end.

3rd Global Disaster Threshold Gutierrez Mario

Used the draw perfectly and kept better horses wide giving him the opportunity to grab a career best third place. Normally he is found in claimers which go in a similar pace to this so he was quite at home with the fierceness of this race but again this demonstrates the fine line between the grades at HRP.

4th Hooligans Holiday Threshold Gaffalione T

He started well but was hauled back from his wide gate and had a lot to do as they went past half way. Having spent ground and energy getting back and in his jockey then lost more ground pulling back out to exactly the same position he was in before to make a late run. He was beaten less than a length in the end which was a decent effort considering his trip.
