Ms Gummybear Turns Glen Falls into a Procession

The Glens Falls Handicap – Grade III 1 3/8 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Ms Gummybear, Downwind Stables

These long distance races can very often be won by a horse going to the front and never being challenged. That is pretty much what happened here as Ms Gummybear found the front on a fair pace but still managed to out stay her rivals and win by an easy three lengths. If she ever gets consistent results she could be very good indeed but she needs things to go her way and that’s what happened today. One thing is for sure and that is the $80.000 that Downwind Stables spent on her is looking a very good investment.

2nd Tiz Flirt, Scorpion Stables

Took the stalk and looked to be going well but when the whips came out she found very little and just kept on in second. This was another game effort by the super consistent mare and I am sure she will continue to be a force in these races.

3rd Copper Piping, Diablo Diablo

Her fate was sealed as she fell off the pace early on. These small fields in long distance races tend to turn into a procession and even though she stayed on well enough she never got close to the first two. It may have been tactics or it may have been the draw that forced her back as it does seem rather pot luck sometimes from the wide draw and a horse is either sent out to quickly or gets too far back.

4th Wow Fighter, Wolfs Den

Taken to the rear and never looked dangerous.

5th Observant, D J C Racing Stables

Once again it seemed that this filly doesn’t stay these longer trips. A decent position early on she faded pretty badly into last. She will fare better back over the mile.
