8 CT The WV Cavada Breeders Classic
$175.000 7f Dirt F&M 3yo&Up Foaled in WV 3yo 119lbs Older 123lbs
It’s going to be a wonderful night of racing at the six furlong bull ring, and we have a field of five headed to the gate for The WV Cavada Breeders Classic, a seven furlong event for the ladies. As you would expect, this is a fairly evenly matched field and I think you have to give every starter a chance. I’m going to give my nod to Make You Blush as she’s had a win and a placing in her two local starts. Gingers A Ten actually beat my top pick in the Bishop, and she’s my second choice in this one. If she can shake loose on the front end, it could be lights out. Here’s the full field –
1 Happy Thoughts – the lightly raced 3yo has a pair of wins from five seasonal starts and this will be her first trip over the surface and first try against stakes company. After breaking maiden at TAM back in the spring, she followed that up with an Alw win at EMD. She has a nice pair of races against Alw company at LS and DMR and should server herself well here as well.
2 Make You Blush – this 3yo filly will be my top choice tonight. A nice win over the track last out taking the Hawkins , and was third against similar in the Bishop, again here at CT. She is an off-the-pace type and the speed here should certainly give her something to run at. She’s been working over the surface and looks ready to fire big again.
3 Gingers A Ten – she’s another that should get serious consideration here tonight as she won in hand taking the Bishop here against WV breds and was fifth only beaten a length in the GIII CT Oaks over the track in her most recent race. She fired-off a bullet prep getting ready for this one and is certainly a big threat tonight.
4 Unintentional Laff – five time winner comes into this one off of a fourth place finish in the fore-mentioned Hawkins over this strip, and she’s always in the hunt, collecting checks in 20 of 25 starts. She has a versatile style showing speed when she wants and coming off of the pace when necessary.
5 Tip Of A Pedal – seems to fire her best efforts on the green stuff and usually at longer distances, but she has been on the board in seven of twelve starts and four of those were wins, so I’d certainly not count her out. Even though she’s on the outside, it’s a small field so I wouldn’t even consider that a negative.
