Seven Furlongs on the Dirt

A field of seven would run in the Inside Information on Saturday, and it seemed to be a pretty wide open race. After the seven furlongs, it would be a horse that last visited the winners circle back in May, a day before the PRK at PIM, in Grayte Crack. She would be content to start near the back of the field and did her best running in the stretch to get the two length win for trainer Estero Farms, giving him his second straight winner in the race. Jockey J R Velazquez is now a two time winner of the stake, having last won in 2009 with the great Blonde Dynamite. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:21.99. Let’s take a look!

(1/4 Mile- :23.03)- Out And Bad is ambitious early for Night Rider Stables, and is the only here looking to start quickly, it seems. After two furlongs, she has an unpressured two length advantage on the rest of the field. With a head in front of a three wide battle for second, John Henry’s Sweet Catomine is next, with Major Ballerina, from Court Jester Racing to her inside, and Maxmillion Farm’s Snakie Pleasure to her outside. Next is the other Snakie, Snakie Hippie Girl, for First Street Stables. The eventual winner, Estero Farms’ Grayte Crack runs sixth, and trails by five. Queen Commander trails for TwinTowersRacing.

(½ Mile- :46.07)- The next quarter mile sees Out And Bad run nearly the exact same :23.03 quarter split as she continues to lead without any pressure. If anything, her lead has increased just a little bit as the run around the turn begins. Behind her, nothing different is happening, so let’s move on.

(Top Of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- It took the run around of the turn to get us some excitement in this race other then watching Out And Bad run at the front all by herself. She continues to do that while on the front end, and still seemed to be maintaining a steady stride. However, her rivals were getting more interested and that was especially true for Grayte Crack. Midway through the turn, J R Velazquez let her know that it was time to go and she responded with a good push and quickly moved to the money lane while running four wide. It didn’t take long for her to catch Sweet Catomine, Major Ballerina, and Snakie Pleasure who were still three wide but not making an advance of their own. Neither were Snakie Hippie Girl or Queen Commander.

(Finish- 1:21.99)- With Out And Bad tiring, Grayte Crack would not have much difficulty taking the lead in the race, but it looked like she might have a challenge from Snakie Pleasure initially. However, that would be short lived, as Grayte Crack continued to overpower her rivals, putting away the attempt of Snakie Pleasure to run with her as she wins this race pretty easily in the stretch by two lengths. Snakie Pleasure ends up in a dead head for second with Out And Bad, and they were a nose in front of the fourth place Sweet Catomine. Queen Commander made up ground late to come close in that photo, too, but ends up without a piece of the purse. Major Ballerina couldn’t keep up in the stretch and Snakie Hippe Girl never got involved.

About The Winner- Grayte Crack, trained by Estero Farms, and ridden to victory by J R Velazquez, is a four year old filly by Safecracker, and is out of Live Laffin. She was bred in the great breeding state of Pennsylvania as a yearling by Gdp Inc, and acquired by Estero Farms unraced in a February 2018 private sale for $50.000. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her fourth in 14 starts, her third stake win, and second graded win. Her career earnings are now $428.960.
