Nine trainer put a dozen fillies into this event hoping their entry will capture the top fifty points with a win here. Saturday will see the Busher and the Honeybee take place, both giving their winners fifty KYO points as well, so its one of the busiest weekends in preparations for Derby Weekend.
- Santa Ysabel Stakes ( Gr. III ) ( KYO ) Purse- $100.000
- Santa Anita Park- For Fillies Three Years old
- One Mile and a Sixteenth in distance, Main track
- March 8th, 2020
It looks like Mb Stables and Aer Stables are looking to make the most of this event and hopefully carry that on to the May 2nd weekend at Churchill Downs.
1 Latte Lady ( Mb Stables ) Jockey Davis D KYO Pts.– 10 Draws the rail for this event and has four wins in seven career starts. Has already captured two victories this season winning the $150 Suncoast Stakes in her most recent start, that being at a mile and seventy. Post and distance should play well for her, in the mix today.
2 Zombie Storm ( La Canada Racehorses ) Jockey Bocachica A KYO Pts.-4 Went runner-up last season in the Gr. I Frizette, but didn’t do as well in the BC Juvenile Fillies race in November. Started this season with a victory in an Alw51 affair over this oval and at today’s distance, so those two factors should help with this event. Jockey is firing at 31% as well, so many pluses.
3 Interpoint ( Night Rider Stables ) Jockey Bridgmohan S X KYO Pts.-16 Coming off her season’s opener with a victory in the Martha Washington at OP, and that sets a nice bar for this black filly. The win was a great feeling for her trainer after three runner-up efforts in her past four starts. Will more then likely look for the stretch to bring home the victory, but will need to be placed perfectly off the turn for home.
4 Tamalpais ( Mb Stables ) Jockey Franco M KYO Pts.-2 Has three victories in five career starts, her best efforts coming in her final three starts as a juvenile. Opened this season with a third place finish behind her stablemate Latte Lady, and the duo will compete against one another in this event. Had a sharp five furlong work on the morning of the 4th, so she is definitely in shape for this affair. Another late runner here.
5 Enriched ( Mb Stables ) Jockey Bejarano R KYO Pts.-0 What is surprising is that Bejarano has decided to take this runner over trainer’s other two entries. Yes she has competed against Graded company and that is probably what sent him here, and hopefully he can get her turned around today. SRF numbers have been on the slide in her past two affairs, so will definitely need to find something to get her focused.
6 Save To Maps ( Jive Inc ) Jockey Chirinos R KYO Pts.-0 Trainer made a bold move showing the “love” on Valentines Day purchasing this bay filly out of Decima. Won the $65 Borderplex Stakes in her opener, and now her new trainer is hoping to use that to build on for this race. Has a 34% winner on her back today, and trainer has also added Never Forgetten five days ago looking to do well in the Oaks. Investment gets put to the test.
7 Techno Slayer ( The Sidley Stud ) Jockey Alvarado J KYO Pts.-0 Closed out last season with a runner-up effort in the Gr. III The Tempted affair with a field of five. Seasonal opener saw her attack the Gr. III Sweetest Chant over at GP on the inner turf, and that was a fringe effort, four lengths shy. Back on the dirt should help, but may find herself in a larger group of late closers here.
8 Dont Leave Me Lonely ( D J C Racing Stables ) Jockey Pennington F KYO Pts.-4 Jockey is firing at 38% in the win category and trainer is hoping that he will be able to find win number two now entering career race number nine. Had two runner-up finished later last season, one being competing in the Gr. II Golden Rod. Has been away for a month and a half and a bullet work over this surface may point to trainer finding the right set-up.
9 Real Nice ( Allinthegate ) Jockey Velazquez J R KYO Pts.– 10 The Busanda Stakes gave this one a victory and her ten points towards the Oaks. Has a top-notched rider in the irons, and it is rare not to see him finish in the top three. SRF numbers are on the rise in her past three starts, and that’s always a good sign. Johnny V is returning so he should be looking to make a late charge once again. Upsetter
10 Zealous Kruz ( Estero Farms ) Jockey Saez L KYO Pts.-0 Has won back to back events to close out last season and in her opener for this season. Walked away with the Ruthless Stakes title in her opener and will be looking to build off that victory. Has two nice six panel morning works here in preparation and SRF numbers have gone from 83 to 93 in her past three starts, so she is maturing nicely.
11 Marbles Blitz ( Aer Stables ) Jockey Juarez N KYO Pts.- 0 Trainer definitely had no luck in the draw for this affair grabbing the two outside post positions. This sawbuck claim in his maiden victory in the opener of the season seemed to be the perfect time as she would come right back and win the $60 Queen Mother at GP. Trainer is confident that she is ready to step up, and will need to prove herself once again on Sunday.
12 Leing Fu ( Aer Stables ) Jockey Beschizza A KYO Pts.-6 Trainer has a couple in the top ten listing on the boys side for the Derby and is now hoping he can move this one into the top ten for the fillies. After three straight victories last season, she made an attempt at the Gr.II Demoiselle, and as the post time favorite, placed third at the wire. Went runner-up to Real Nice in the Busanda, and will need to overcome this outside post to be effective today.
