Named after the Greek Philosopher whose belief was that humans made their choices based on happiness was definitely how Dan from Mb Stables is feeling after his sophomore slides to 5th in the standings, along with four other of his runners in the top ten!!!
- The Gotham ( Gr. III ) (P3) ( KYD ) Purse-$300.000
- Aqueduct Racetrack- For Three year olds
- One Mile in distance- Main Track
After taking two fillies to the top two spots in the earlier Busher Stakes event here at Aqueduct, Mb Stables would set the instructions for jockey Jaramillo to place Socrates in a stalking position at the rail, and as the field swung off the turn for home, made his move and raced on to a three quarter of a length lead at the wire. This is now his third straight victory since early December, and it seems that his trainer has this one figured out. His earnings this season in just two starts almost matches what he has done in his previous seven career starts, and don’t look for him to stop anytime soon. He is one of just a handful of runners who have been able to post five victories to his credit in his career.
Grabbing the runner-up position with a keen effort throughout would be Estero Farms Aggravated Sky. He was sent quickly to the front to get out ahead of Dynark Stables Finite coming out of the back chute, and kept the pace honest for this affair, only losing his edge in the final furlong as an 18-1 underdog. He has now moved to position 16th with 20 points, the same as his stablemate Charleys Latte.
Rounding out the top three for a $!316.800 trifecta payout would be John Henry’s Mexican Swagger who was set ablaze last season in restricted affairs back in New Mexico and it seems that the recent bullet work he displayed over at SA prior to this event was a key factor to him being ready to do battle here on Saturday. Won’t be long before he should be back grabbing victories once again. His efforts now place him in 21st in KYD points. His new interests may have found the key.
Others in this affair who came into the event with some KYD Points to there credit were Sars ( Aer Stables ) who now drops to 18th place, and Finite who now finds himself down to 24th.
With the final points on the day and placing fourth was Midnight Special ( Allinthegate ) , who made a couple of adds to his regiment and it will be interesting to see if they stick for his next start. He is 32nd for the Derby
