Condottieris Fox stalked the pace, moved up quickly on the turn, then held off all challengers down the lane to land her first graded stakes win while taking her sixth seasonal win in Saturday’s QE II Challenge Cup (GI) at KEE. She stopped the clock in 1:45.52 for the mile and an eighth turf race. You can do it was a half length back in second with Wire Z Wire completing the trifecta.
The field of six got away from the gate with Condottieris Fox away well, Wire Z Wire from down along the inside, Eva The Diva from the far outside. You Can Do It came next, Rose Of Glamorgan, and Famed Queen was off slowly, trailing the field.
Under the wire the first time by the grandstand and into the clubhouse turn, now six furlongs to run, Eva The Diva in front by a length and a half, You Can Do It trying to keep some pressure on that one a gap of two back to Rose Of Glamorgan, well off of the rail, another length back to Condottieris Fox, Wire Z Wire to the inside of that one and Famed Queen still trailing, eight lengths covered them.
Moving down the backside and to the far turn, three and a half furlongs to run, Eva The Diva in front by two. You Can Do It still tracking in behind that one, Rose Of Glamorgan another length back, Condottieris Fox caught wide, Wire Z Wire between that pair, just in behind, and a long way back to Famed Queen, still eight lengths from the leader.
Around the far turn and to the top of the lane, the went past the three-sixteenths… and I know you’re going to find this hard to believe, but the field bunched up for the run to the wire. You Can Do It with Eva The Diva, Condottieris Fox from the far outside, Rose Of Glamorgan trying to find more, Wire Z Wire feeling the whip and Famed Queen continuing to trail.
Now past the sixteenth pole and Condottieris Fox had gone past the the field from the far outside and took the lead by a neck. You Can Do It from the inside fighting back, Wire Z Wire, Rose Of Glamorgan, Eva The Diva now losing ground and Famed Queen out of contention.
Inside the final 150-yards and to the wire, Condottieris Fox was not to be denied and she went under the wire in front by a half length. You Can Do It held second just a neck in front of Wire Z Wire. Rose Of Glamorgan in fourth, Eva The Diva in Fifth and Famed Queen trailed throughout.
