We don’t often see a horse win a race in our virtual world as easily as County Medical did in the Prince Of Wales. It seemed like it would be a given that he would be the favorite in this race, and it was even questioned just how low his odds might go. Somehow, he went off at almost 7/1, and as the second longest shot on the board. Oh, if only we could put real money on these races. He would be our pick to win, and in fact, our top three picks finished in the order that were predicted. County Medical is trained by Crocker Ggs, and helps the trainer pick up his first win in the race while snapping the Mb Stables winning streak. The winning rider is A Beschizza, who also wins for the first time. Congratulations to the them! The race was run in a time of 1:54.49, making it one of the quicker editions. Let’s take a look at the rout!

(½ Mile- :48.06)- The rout begins right from the starting gate, as County Medical breaks sharply out of the gate and prevails soon after over Stormin Charlie, from Nakamura Stables. He goes on to take a lead of about a length and a half as they head down the front stretch and move into the opening turn. Supreme Confidence, from Mb Stables and the one that had the odds that County Medical should have had in the morning line, gets within a length for a moment in the turn, but backs off to run with Stormin Charlie. This was a three horse race today. Reportedly, there were two other horses in this field, but I’m not sure if anyone actually saw Disco Duck (Mo Mentum Farm) and Bobbin For Stars (Arindel) participate.

(3/4 Mile- 1:11.58)- It’s cruise control time for County Medical over the backstretch, but even in this mode he extends his lead on the second place Supreme Confidence by two and a half lengths. A Beschizza had to be very happy with the way that things were unfolding at this point. Stormin Charlie was third, three lengths out. Disco Duck was six back, and Bobbin For Stars over eight back.

(Top of Stretch, 1.5F To Go)- Rounding the turn, County Medical continues to run this race in a very graceful manner while having no pressure applied to him at any time. The lead is now three lengths as they hit the top stretch, meaning it has only continued to grow. There is simply nothing coming behind him, either. Supreme Confidence and Stormin Charlie are still running together, but right now that’s just to complete the exacta.

(Finish- 1:54.49)- County Medical is able to take it easy in the stretch, and effortlessly score the win here in the Prince of Wales. A clean race throughout, and I am not sure that he ever saw another horse soon after he left the starting gate. Supreme Confidence was second best here, perhaps by default. He did gain a little in the stretch, but was a meaningless gain. Third goes to Stormin Charlie, who lacked stretch response. That’s an upgrade over Disco Duck and Bobbin For Stars who lacked everything.

About The Winner- County Medical, trained by Crocker Ggs and ridden to victory by A Beschizza, is a three year old colt by Call Your Doctor, and is out of Tri County. He was bred in Ontario by Crocker Ggs as a first quarter two year old, the only trainer for which he has ever known. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his fourth in 12 starts, his third stake win, and second graded win. His career earnings are now $631.800.
