3 GP The FL Sire Stakes – Affirmed
$200.000 2yo Foaled in FL 7f Dirt 118lbs +penalties
Sunshine state bred 2yo’s will be the fare for this seven furlong sprint, as we take a look at the field for the FL Sire Stakes – Affirmed, to be run Saturday at GP. A few of these were racing in a prior installment of the FL Sire Stakes series and you have to give all of them a look today. The two that jump out to me are Evergreen, second in that race but Mb Stables always seems to improve on these lightly raced 2yo’s, so he could flip the script in this one, and I also like Taunt as his only start was a bit of a head-turner in my opinion, and I think he’s another that can improve and be a big threat in this one. They are 2yo’s so the two things we know are I can’t pick ’em and you never know who might run a big race.
Here’s The Field –
He’s still a maiden going after a stake win but I’m horrible at these 2yo races so put him right there on your tickets. He beat one in his first start, a couple last out and sold for $50.000 after those two. Max is sharp with a horse but this will be Houdini at GP if he wins this.
Got that first win last out over this track taking down Fla-bred maidens and two of his three races have been here in Hallandale. He seemed to enjoy coming from off of the pace so maybe he keeps improving and is a factor here today.
Broke maiden over this surface then ran big to be second in another of these FLA-stallion races. He closed a late gap ad was coming at the winner, so if he improves a bit, this being his fourth race, he should be a huge factor in this one as well.
Just missed over this surface vs. Fla-bred maidens then got the job done in open company at PRX. Ran a bang-up race at WO last out vs. stakes company and did all of the heavy lifting only to get nailed on the wire by a half length. You have to give him a big look in this race.
Broke maiden at first asking in northern NY, but his last out was a humdinger, taking a similar stakes over this surface as the luke-warm 4/1 favorite. I doubt that you get those odds today and he seems the one to beat, if he keeps after the task at hand.
Broke maiden at first asking on the west coast on a good surface, and has been right there in a pair of Alw races. The move to state-bred foes should be a bit softer but it is stakes company and there are some sharp horses here today. He will need his best.
Broke his maiden over this track vs. Fla-bred maidens then ran fifth at PRX vs. Alw company, so he’s going to need to get on the improved side of things to get involved here. Does the home-cookin do him some good?
Well bred colt broke maiden in a big way at LAD, getting home three lengths in front and you have to think he will improve a bit for this one. He may be overlooked with that single race… then again, he may be 3/5. Either way, I think he is a horse to keep an eye on.
Broke maiden at Tam then was rested until Aug where he was third vs. a few of these in a Fla-bred stakes. He’s back on shorter rest and that could spell a big race for him, Then again, the nine post does him no favors so we just have to see.
Has two wins but both vs. the claiming rank. He looked good getting home by a nose at SAR last out, but the post does him no favors and he will need to keep getting better to take down this group.
