Would it be a Sunday without a dead-heat in a stakes race?  Heck no!  It took a mile and an eighth to try to decide Sunday’s Coronation Futurity at WO, but that wasn’t enough as post time favorite No Doubt About It ended up on even terms with 65/1 shot My Nero and a dead heat was in the cards.  Twisted Diademe was just a head back in third.

The field of four Canada bred juveniles lined up and were away with My Nero away quickest of all, Twisted Diademe along the rail, No Doubt About It, and Asset Class was the early trailer.

Under the wire the first time by and now dashing off into the clubhouse turn with six furlongs to run, My Nero still on the gas and in front by a length and a half.  No Doubt About It giving chase in second, a gap of four back to Twisted Diademe now taken back, and Asset Class a length off of that one, six lengths covered the field.

The field made their way down the backside and were nearing the far turn with three and a half furlongs to run and now My Nero was in front by two and a half lengths.  No Doubt About It still in tracking mode, then two and a half more back to Twisted Diademe in third and Asset Class could still see them all, eight lengths from the leader.

Around the far turn and to the top of the lane, three sixteenths of a mile to run and My Nero still in front by a length and a quarter.  No Doubt About It trying to move up the inside as the leader fanned out for the drive, a length and a half back to Twisted Diademe in third and Asset Class had work to do if he wanted to be part of this one.

Inside the final 150-yards and to the finish, My Nero on the lead, No Doubt About It closing in with every stride… and now Twisted Diademe making a late charge at them.  As they went under the wire, it was just too close to call and the PHOTO sign went up on the tote board.  After viewing the photograph, the top pair just could not be separated and it was a dead heat between My Nero and No Doubt About It.  Twisted Diademe was a tough-beat third with Asset Class last throughout in the field of four.
