Tried for the TC but failed over the longer trips so was brought back to sprinting and has been fairly good running three seconds and a close up sixth. The draw will help but he hasn’t really made the move from decent over nighter to stakes horse.
2 Interdesign Team 7 Illusions Vargas J A Jr
Broke through in a maiden claimer in June and has since run well enough in this grade to give him a good chance from this perfect draw.
3 Irn Bru The Sidley Stud Juarez N
Has age against him but is an interesting entry as in 19 starts he has never run in a sprint. Sometimes at HRP that can bring about a huge improvement for no real reason so i will be watching this one closely.
4 Drift In The Swamp Oquinn Farm Ortiz I Jr
This three year old didn’t have hos first race until May this year but since that debut second has gone three straight wins. He hasn’t exactly gapped the fields but each time he has done enough to win and comes here a very much untapped talent. His last two wins have seen 90+ speed figures so whilst he hasn’t arrived just yet he may just be ready for the step up to stakes.
5 Korean Boyband Team 7 Illusions Lezcano J
This three year old didn’t look like much until he won a maiden claimer on his eighth start and then he hit his improvement curve and it has been pretty steep. In his last two starts he has only been beaten a length at stakes level and whilst he hasn’t done enough yet to be called a winning chance with confidence he certainly wont be friendless in the market.
6 Brady Is A Lady Sharis Stables Velazquez J R
The class in the race he has already won two stakes races and was only beaten a length in the grade one JC Gold Cup last time but that was over 10 furlongs and this race is over 7, t/he good news is that doesn’t matter much at HRP. He has to give weight being a four year old but he may just be superior enough to make that work.
7 Waiting On My Moment Luz International Ortiz J L
Another decent four year old that has done enough to be a big chance. The downsides for him however are pretty significant, firstly the weight penalty puts him at 126Lbs and secondly he has drawn out which will also add a few yards to his journey. Good enough to overcome it but i doubt he will.
8 Cherokee Lion Maxmillion Farm Carmouche K
Lightly raced with just seven starts and whilst he seems to be going the right way this race may come a bit soon in his development.
9 The End Game RNP Stables Franco M
Stuck right on the outside is the most accomplished three year old making him probably the likely winner of it wasn’t for the draw. A close third in the Gallant Bob he certainly has the right form lines if he can overcome this draw. That is probably more down to the race engine than the horse so you have to have a bit of luck on your side if he is your choice.
SUMMARY
In my view some of the best horses are drawn wide here but there are a few that represent the untapped talent that may just shine through today. The End Game and Brady Is A Lady should have this between them but if the wide draw kills their chances then Interdesign or Korean Boyband could be ready to strike.
